Through one of the local Facebook groups I discovered that a visit to The Savill Garden this month would be free. The garden is reached through Englefield Green and is managed by The Crown Estates. My previous visits have all been in the Summer months and I was a little unsure what to expect.
It was cold and the ponds were covered with a layer of ice and I spent time capturing images of the ducks walking across them!
This image is one of a series that I took following the progress of this duck as I tried to capture its reflection on the ice.
There were snowdrops out but I concentrated on the grasses and closeups of plants that had died back for the winter (next time I’ll grab the name of plants that photograph.)
This is from Japan and I was fascinated by the colours and textures of its leaves in Winter.
And as I retired for a warming cup of tea I looked for more reflections on one of the frozen ponds.
