Wednesday 8th October 2020 – Whitby Piers
After lunch back at our house in Whitby I left the others and went for a wander around Whitby. I wanted to explore the two Whitby piers described on page 18. I walked past the Abbey steps and then onto the south pier.
At the end of the pier there was a a ladder to take the brave down below right at the harbour entrance – I gave that a miss!
Rather than walk back up to by the Abbey Steps I walked across the harbour taking advantage of the tide being out.
I then could get a closer look at tiered gardens from the cottages above.
I sat on one of the benches for a while watching as visitors passed by to walk along the inner harbour wall or to go onto the harbour sands with their dogs. This polar bear is above a shop at the end of the swing bridge.
I checked out where I wanted to take images in the early evening.
Wednesday 8th October 2020 – Trenchers
We planned to go to Trenchers for an early evening meal. We did take a walk up to the swing bridge and in the evening light I took these images.
This is my favourite.
Our guess was correct that there would be no queues early in the evening and just after 6 we were sat at a table next to the window.
The fish and chips were excellent.
