Day 19: Wednesday 12th October 2022: Atlantic
We ate a late breakfast as usual in the quiet part of the buffet upstairs. Listening to conversations around as we learnt about other passengers having issues with their bills and mysterious charges appearing.
The weather was kind and we went for a long walk around the top deck. Our walk was curtailed as we wanted to attend the speaker in the theatre.
Colin MacLachlan
A fascinating talk that was spun around events in the speaker’s life that some of which we all knew about. His journey from being abused as a child to being a member of the SAS was intertwined with events. I was intrigued by the highlighted learning points at these events and how these were turned into points for us, the audience to learn from.
All in all a tour-de-force of a talk.
Lunch
As we walk back from the theatre, we noticed that Alfredos had no queues, and we broke our no big lunch rule once again– and we had great pizzas. While we sat the bright light created patterns through our wine glasses.
We were sat on the outside of the restaurant. This did mean that when the window seat passenger saw a whale we missed it….
Evening
Our afternoon was very lazy and we watched the sea or movies in our cabin. Some time for just chilling after all the busy ports was definitely needed.
We went to the Captain’s Circle cocktail party in the Vista Lounge. This was a formal night. The ship’s Captain had lost his voice in the earlier party for Captain’s Circle members. Instead our talk was from one of the senior officers. As an aside, we didn’t hear from the Captain again for most of the rest of the cruise.
Our dinner was on Deck 5 midships and we shared a table for six. The conversation flowed along with an enjoyable meal.
On our bed we had the form to nominate when we wanted to leave Sky once we back in Southampton – not as complicated as the Canadian customs forms!
The second note warned us to keep our phones on ship’s time rather than on local time which was 30 minutes behind.
Our last port in Canada was St John’s before we crossed back across the Atlantic.
