On Thursday 15th December 2022 my image “Time out for a smoke” was included in an external competition By Farnborough Camera Club. This was an inter-club competition organised by Farnborough with five other local clubs.
Judge’s comments
… This is a really nice monochrome image, a slim portrait shape as well
… he looks as though he might be a butcher, only because of the stripey apron
… you have captured the essence of what he is doing, leaning against the wall, we haven’t got too much wall as that is not so interesting
… we have got a few posters in the background, and I’m trying to read and not to read because you always want to read something that is in front of you, it is a tiny bit distracting but it is part of the environment, so it is not that distracting
… the solid blacks are really good, which I like
… I think as he is holding a piece of paper in his left hand you might have darkened that down and if you did that would be a good idea as it was bright it would have been a distraction
… 8.5
The image had originally been entered into the third round of internal 2021-22 PDI league at Farnborough and was originally from a Streetsnappers workshop in London in June 2022. This had been my first workshop after all the lockdowns.
On the 15th, Farnborough won the competition from five other clubs. My other club, Bracknell, came 4th but without any of my images!
