This was my second entry this season from the ‘Creative dance Lighting Workshop’ from last year. Our model Kate Byrne, posed for us in the second round of the shoot still in her 2012 Olympic costume.
Resting dancer
Judge’s comments
…another studio setup again, this time we have a backdrop, warmish lighting
…the hands have been put very well […] they look natural and work well
…we some title areas of light, just a little problem here [and] there,
… and the lighting makes her bones stand out a little bit, the way she is twisted and the lighting on here, perhaps not as flattering as we’d like
… you have to be so careful of ladies’ lighting and their positioning to make them happy with the shot
…I like the clothing, the oranges and yellows, so that’s all great,
… you are working well with her eye to eye contact in the studio
… her placement is good in the picture space but just perhaps be aware of these lighting problems
The evening’s judge commented on all the images and then ran through all the images giving us scores.
Judge’s mark
… there issues with the lighting there
… 8.5
The score
There were 19 images in this projected digital round in Division 1.
‘Resting dancer’ scored 8.5.
The original image
I used Auto Settings and then adjusted the Exposure some more for the final version before deciding on a crop.
The projected image had a 4 pixel white stroke and after hearing the judge’s general comments I’ll try less pixels in future and perhaps use a a colour from within the image.
These are some more of my images from the studio workshop:
