On our Hurtigruten Coastal Voyage on MS Finnmarken in April 2015 we were lucky to catch the Northern Lights when we were South of Tromso.
We were called from our cabins after 1 AM. It was a bit of rushed job setting up my camera for the Northern Lights especially when once out on the foredeck all the ship’s lights were turned out.
I used manual focus with ISO set to 6400 and exposure times between 10 and 30 seconds. Some of the photos were taken using my tripod and others were hand held in order to ‘see’ over fellow passengers.
