The Google+ Local pop-up was in the Westfield Centre on Market at lunchtime on Thursday. Along with a table with Chromebooks were some comfortable chairs and two tables with goodies on.
Along with a handful of curious shoppers I wandered over to have a look and to listen to the explanations being given about what the pop-up was all about. The guys were not having many takers filling in recommendations for local businesses, as it took a minimum of ten to get any of the goodies.
I subsequently read that Google+ Local pop-ups had appeared in other cities so this probably was part of a push to get more content on the service.
I did get to play with one of the Samsung Chromebooks that was connected via Wi-Fi and hit on a selection of Uk websites that I use often, such as the BBC etc. I was suitably impressed with the speed of the rendering so much so that I have subsequently purchased a Chromebook (more about this in later posts).
Some of the goodies available as prizes for filling in recommendations on Google+ Local.
