When we were visiting friends in Pennsylvania we called at the Downingtown Diner for a late breakfast.
We had lived in Downingtown in the late 70s. The diner is famous for its part in Steve McQueen’s starring debut movie – The Blob. Today the diner has had a re-model and is now raised up.
Inside it is just like all the American diners that we see in the movies.
Once inside we could sit where we wanted and we choose a table that gave us the above view down the diner. The breakfast was excellent accompanied by a bottomless coffee pot. The service was as excellent as I remembered it.

Here’s the diner before it was ‘eaten’ in the movie…

Friendly and great value
What a friendly place to have a late breakfast. We parked at the front of the diner and had a great view of its shiny outside, without The Blob thank goodness.Once inside we were shown to a table and had fresh coffee delivered immediately.
The breakfasts were a great price and when they came they were excellent and filled the plates!
This is one of the best diners we’ve been to with great service and great food.
