Chipping Campden second evening
The patio at the back of the hotel was packed with guests there for a wedding. We did manage to find a table and had a not so quiet drink. Our bedroom was very noisy from all the guests and we decided to try another place to eat along the High Street. As we went from restaurant we realised that we should =have taken the trouble to reserve a table. Several of the restaurants were quite dismissive of walk-ins. One in particular, The Old Bakehouse, was not welcoming at all and after being left standing for over five minutes we were told that there was no space.
Michael’s Mediterranean Restaurant
Down the High Street our evening was saved by Michael’s Mediterranean Restaurant. Despite being very busy (and packed) we were found a table and were soon enjoying a truly wonderful meal.
The extra surprise of the evening was a solo saxophonist who walked around the two rooms of the restaurant serenading us!
This is the place to eat in Chipping Campden but we do recommend booking!

Fabulous service and meal
We hadn’t booked and the very helpful folks here found a table for us. The menu is very extensive and we listened to an equally impressive list of specials for the evening.
It was great to be in a restaurant where the service was excellent and everyone who spoke with us were so courteous and helpful.
I ate of the specials and had watermelon + feta cheese followed by lamb kebab AND Greek salad. The houmous that my partner had as a starter was enough for a shared starter and her chicken supreme was excellent; add a bottle of Malbec and our Saturday dinner was excellent.

Late evening
The High Street was busy as we did our final stroll up and down window shopping and admiring the houses. Plus I found some more memorable quotes and images in the shop windows.
I maybe left handed,
but I am always right
Back at the hotel the manager asked all the guests outside on the patio to come inside so as not to disturb the neighbours after 10 pm. We ordered the special Summer Gins and took them to one of the sitting areas by reception to enjoy the last part of our days away.
Our sleep was disturbed at 4 am by a delivery van making deliveries to the hotel.
In the next morning our breakfast was again excellent.

The hotel’s car park is at the back through a passageway. Everyone was very friendly and we were able to book a table for the Thursday evening curry night. Our curries were excellent. Its location in the middle of the main street makes it perfect for wandering and looking at Chipping Campden.
Our room overlooked the car park and we did get disturbed by assorted late comers and by 4 am deliveries. We were pleased to see that the outside bar areas were cleared at 10 pm to give some peace and quiet to the neighbours and the rooms above.
Breakfast was very good and again with friendly service – the Full English Breakfast especially.
