This final session of the internal leagues was all the images that had achieved the top scores in both the print and projected digital image rounds and was to choose ‘The best of the best’. All the images were judged together with no distinction between the three levels of entrants. The judge picked his favourites in each category and then picked an overall winner of the best image for the season.
I had had three ’10s’ in the season and here ar the comments from the judge who was comparing them against all the other images.
Smooth Jazz
This is an image of JessyJ entered in one of the earlier open print rounds.
…very difficult to do concert photography
…for a start … on a sticky wicket with the light, even got a strong directional light
…really have to crank up the ISO
…did have a close look , there is very little noise in there
…it could be a little sharper but considering the lighting conditions …
…it invokes the atmosphere anyway
…love the little bit of electric blue light that is coming off the left hand side
…pity there is a jet black background, I’d have liked to have seen perhaps many shapes in the background that suggests part of a band
Cool love
This was entered into the themed digital image round ‘All you need is love’.
…two figures between the two vertical poles and it just sortof frames them quite nicely
…in a very … urban environment, lots of concrete
…nice that you’ve picked it out
…but I just get the feeling that I’m looking through a telescope with this severe vignetting around the corners
…if you are going to do this type of vignette make it less obvious
Walking over the bridge
This image was entered into one of the open projected digital image rounds.
…two people walking along the Millennium Bridge, a very popular spot for photographers
…that part of London[along the] South Bank is great for if you are into reportage street photography genres, lots to see lots to do
…I just think that there are better images to be had that day rather than just the backs of two people
…I like the juxtaposition of the different heights, the different hats but you don’t see anything about the people just the back of their heads … and nothing else really
…the background id nicely out of focus
…just leaving me unfulfilled
