Our last port in Norway was Stavanger. This was another unscheduled port due to the weather. Saga had arranged for a boat trip to see Pulpit Rock in the afternoon.

Our day in Kristiansund was another unscheduled stop due to the bad weather above the Arctic Circle and in the evening we had a display of the Aurora Borealis

February 2023: Artic Norway and the Northern Lights: North Sea after Trondheim
After Trondheim we set sail for Alta missing out Tromso, then after some very rough seas the ship turned back and our visit to Alta was cancelled. Mid-afternoon a Norwegian Coastguard helicopter came and picked up an ill passenger.

Our next port of call was an unscheduled visit to Trondheim. Saga had added excursions and we visited the cathedral and the fortress for the first time.

Jools Holland on Spirit of Discovery – February 2023
On Monday 20th February 2023 we watched Jools Holland perform on Spirit of Discovery despite the dreadful sea state that evening.
