Day 10: Monday 3rd October 2022: the Atlantic
The ship was running through some very interesting seas overnight which made it quite bouncy.
According to the map Sky Princess was heading pretty much due South on her way to New York.
We were early enough for breakfast in the mid ship’s restaurant. We shared a table for eight and I probably ate too much. My excuse was having the Mexican special.
Afternoon and another concert from Chris Watkins
The weather didn’t improved in the morning.
After a late lunch Linda went to see the actress, Sue Holderness, be interviewed by the ship’s cruise director. The we both went to the theatre again to see Chris Watkins. This time he was accompanied by just the pianist from the orchestra. The concert was entitled ‘Brahms to Broadway’.
This was a hastily arranged performance as his sheet music was at an airport somewhere. The pianist accompanied him and was completed as he did this with little or no rehearsal. At 4:15 the passenger pop choir gave a performance in the theatre.
Late afternoon
We now had our departure time off the ship in Brooklyn . This is when we were scheduled to meet US immigration. An interesting change was that we no longer had to fill in a US customs form.
This was the first time in over 40 years that I’d entered the USA without filling one in!
Our evening
As it was a formal night, we took our time getting ready and even skipped visiting the Captain’s Circle.
We had a special relaxing dinner in the Deck 6 restaurant. At the table I learnt a great tip about ship’s knives. The knife for buttering your bread is rarely used for cutting anything, this means that it can be used to successfully cut steaks!
From the restaurant, we joined the late crowd in the Piazza, listening to Ocean Boulevard and joining in with the dancing.
We decided it was time to leave as we expected to up early for New York and the ship’s clock went back an hour too, so that we were now on New York time.
The next day day was our much anticipated visit to New York.
