During our day in Iceland I did manage to find some beautiful and interesting pieces of street art in Akureyri.
Walking down the pedestrian precinct (Hafnarstraeti) I spotted a decorated wall – here’s the wall with a couple of close-up images.
Beautiful street art in Akureyri
Further down the precinct was this fabulous piece that covers the whole wall of a building by Guido van Helten.
I asked a couple of passers by (who were promoting whale watching trips) was there any more street art in the town? They directed us back up the precinct and to walk up the hill towards the church and look to our left.
Through this alleyway this was what we found along walls and up the steps to the houses above the yard.
From my Instagram posts, this piece with the elephant and child, I was told that this piece was by Margeir Dire.
We climbed back over the trash in the alley and walked over the street to have a look at the art decorating the walls behind the parked cars.
Up from the parked cars was this portrait.
After our last beers in Iceland we were walking back to Azura and spotted this house across the road.
