The three back-to-back social media training sessions in Duxford, near Cambridge, covered Twitter, LinkedIn and lastly Facebook. We held them at the Duxford Lodge Hotel in the village of Duxford itself. The training sessions were organised by UK4Business and were the first time that we had taken the training near to Cambridge.
The airfield nearby is a branch of the Imperial War Museum and driving to the hotel, I had to past by the entrance. A quick check on the internet had confirmed that the opening hours did not match when I was free over the two days – definitely bad planning.
The first session was for Twitter and here are the main queries of the attendees that first afternoon.
How do I use Twitter for marketing?
How do I find people to follow?
How can I generate traffic to our website? And what are landing pages?
How do I do interactions on Twitter?
How do I use hashtags?
“I have found this interesting that I need to get back to the office and get my head down”
~ Kay Net-Com (92) Limited“really good, great tips, can’t wait to get Followers”
~ Teresa
After everyone had left I had sometime to explore and the hotel’s walls were decorated with pictures of aircraft including ones that had been stationed at the nearby Duxford airfield during the Second World War. After an excellent meal and a pint in the bar I did some more exploring and came across this wonderful aeroplane lamp in the hallway upstairs.
The first session next morning was for LinkedIn and we kicked off by asking about general concerns:
How do I use LinkedIn for recruitment?
Cold calling?
How do I find people using LinkedIn?
How do I get people to visit my website?
How do I post on LinkedIn?
“Scary! I have a lot to do”
~ Geoff Lenze Limited“Very Useful and valuable info”
~ Andrew Shelton Associates Limited“Explained LinkedIn well”
~ James Net-Com (92) Limited“Improve communication + Help recruit”
~ David Complete Fabrication Modelmakers Limited
The last session of the second day was for Facebook and we set about addressing these original queries:
How do we get Likes?
How do we use Facebook to get more business?
We want to raise the profile of our business
Is it correct that not all your posts are seen by everyone?
“Excellent content and presentation”
~ Andrew
