On Thursday June 9th 2011 I gave a scheduled 1.5 hour training session on Social Media for the Camberley Chapter of BNI.
These are the topics that were covered:
Overview
Websites (and Blogs)
Twitter
LinkedIn
Facebook
YouTube
Not Just Text
What else is out there?
BNI Camberley had requested an overview of as many of the Social Media platforms as could be fitted into the allotted time.
The session mirrored how I work with clients starting with the importance of the web site and linking each section to web sites. Having clients from the Chapter I was able to use examples from their Social Media streams and of course their web sites.
Detailed topics included ‘Avoiding Google Roulette’ and a particular audience favourite ‘Social Media is not just about SuperInjunctions’ with all the names, dates and places redacted.
The presentation was lively with lots of questions and ‘how do I . . .?’. Since my earlier presentations I have been doing a lot of work with YouTube for clients and this gave more detail and examples to this section of the presentation.
In the wash-up we covered how to pull everything together and emphasised the importance of a solid marketing base for the social media, gaining testimonials and re-emphised using blogs to improve interest in websites.
The feedback was very positive, examples below:
“The whole seminar was fascinating” – Ms M
“Excellent presentation- interactive + understandable” – Ms B
“ Fantastic, such a great education 2 hours. Can I have the package?” – Mr B
“ Very open presentation, learnt a lot. Very useful” – Mr C
“ Excellent” – Ms S
“Very enlightening, a whole new world to visit” – Mr F
“Understanding how social media actually works as I didn’t understand it at all” – Mr P
