This was the PDI Set Subject round at Farnborough Camera Club in the 2023-2024 season on the 30th November 2023. The chosen subject was ‘Transport’. Also taking part were members of the Farnborough associated in Germany.
There were 52 images in the competition.

This image was taken using my iPhone at Green Park Underground Station of a Jubilee Line Train.
Summary of judge’s comments
… it is not the easiest thing to take pictures of an Underground train, and you do get this feeling of movement in tis iconic piece of transport, [ ] I don’t know where it is
… I think the monochrome here works quite well because you feel that the train and the sheen of the metal harmonise with the colourisation of the platform and the roof above
… I did find it a little bit tight on the left hand side, could have done with a slight bit more of the platform

Norwegian Rescue
After the ship had to turn back from sailing to Alta, the Norwegian Coastguard came to pick up an ill passenger. This is one of the Saga crew being lifted up to accompany the passenger to hospital.
Summary of judge’s comments
… may have been a training flight or an actual rescue, you have caught this quite well
… I don’t mind that the helicopter itself is truncated , but I would like to see a little bit more of that doorway where the person is going into and and the occupant whose hand that is grasping the cable there
.. I do accept that this may have been your only opportunity to get the shot
… the motion blur is just about right for the rotor
