Pen Ponds
As we walked past one of the ponds a heron flew up from the reeds and took up station on the scaffold pier.
There were seagulls, ducks as well as the usual crowd of parakeets flying around us. This duck caught my eye as it circled above the water . . .
… before landing just in front of us.
We watched the seagulls protesting at the heron perching on ‘their’ scaffold. Last week I had photographed them perched there so this was clearly ‘their spot’.
After a a while the unperturbed heron flew away to a another spot on the pond.
The clouds were quite low but we did see planes leaving Heathrow above us.
We carried on walking around the pond and then walked back for our breakfast reward at the Pen Ponds Cafe.
Next to the picnic tables at the cafe is a large scale map of the Park. As we drank our tea we checked out where we might go (and park) to see London from the Park.
