The river cruise
The TJ travel tour guides took turns on providing the commentary as we sailed around St Petersburg. As the river cruise boat went down the canal the guy in the motor boat was one of the many boats that raced past us. This morning, I had lots of layers of clothes on and with a blanket over my legs and I settled down at the stern, in the corner, to watch the city go by.
Across the wide river we could see the famous cruiser Aurora.
Our trip took us under low bridges, past famous bridges, then out on to the main river, close to the monuments that had been lighthouses with captured ship’s prows as decorations.
The speakers on the boat were not very clear and rather than worry about what I was seeing I concentrated on taking pictures and watching the other passing boats.
Looking across the river we could see the runners taking part in the marathon. They were streaming over the bridges and then running down the side of the river.
