Day 11 Wednesday 3rd July: Baltic Sea
After our four busy days we were pleased to sleep past our early wake up times and to enjoy relaxing cups of tea in our cabin. I was curious to know where we were in the Baltic and for the first time the AV system on the TV failed to work. A quick call requested a repair and we went down to Deck 3 in the Sapphire restaurant for our buffet breakfast.
After breakfast we walked the deck for only to find the steps up to Deck 5 at the bow were closed. There was a lot of wind across Deck 4 so we can only guess what it was like at the bow.
Our TV still wasn’t working so I called again. Within 10 minutes we had a knock at the door and someone came in expecting to open a locked safe. She took one look at the TV fiddled with it at the back and it worked again. I asked what she done as I’d already done the P&O trick of unplugging it from the local area network but that had made no difference. She showed me a button on the back of the TV, bottom right from the front, that reset the AVG software.
Afternoon on the Baltic
At noon we listened to the Captain’s talk and learnt that there was a 35 knot headwind and coupled with the 20 knot speed this added up to high winds on all the decks! The Captain explained that around midnight Explorer would pass under the Great Belt bridge.
