An early start for Richmond Park. The park road is still closed going anti-clockwise from the gate I use. I did get to have have a 15 minute 20 mph drive around the park as I had to backtrack and then go clockwise to the Pen Ponds’ car park.
Heading out to Pen Ponds
After crossing the open space and following the path through the bracken my first deer.
This doe was above the pond eating until she saw me!
At the side of the pond the heron was waiting patiently.
Now I was on the path between the ponds she resumed eating.
Below the raised path was this group.
Pen Ponds
Back to the car park
I walked from the ponds to the road and onto the hill through the woods.
After the hill, I followed one of the paths parallel to the road and looked up!
Richmond Park has its own flocks of parakeets and now the trees were full of them!
Pen Ponds’ café
The café has had a make over since my earlier visits and is no longer a caravan!
I was early in Richmond Park this year for the rut – better luck next visit!
