After we looked at the street art in the Leake Street tunnel we went to the City and the Sky Garden in the Walkie Talkie.
I used my latest photography book – ‘Photographing London Volume 1’ as a guide to some of the places that we visited. Plus we had a scheduled visit to the Walkie Talkie building on Fenchurch Street.
The City
After our walk through the Leake Street tunnel we went back to Waterloo and caught the Waterloo-City Line to Bank. Steve took me on a voyage of exploration through the back alleys as we walked towards the Walkie Talkie.

The Walkie Talkie’s Sky Garden
Our main reason for being in London was to go up to the observation deck of the Walkie Talkie building on Fenchurch Street. Unlike the Shard this viewing platform is free to visit as it is designated as a public park – the Sky Garden. We queued outside to wait for our entry time and then a short queue for security checks. Reservations at the restaurant allows the queues to be jumped – remember this in future.
When I had visited the Shard my images had been impacted by all the reflections from the building’s glass. This time I planned to use my Ultimate Lens Hood to hopefully remove reflections.
