I use an iPhone, an iPad and various iPods to listen to my music and to watch videos and films. I have various apps that allow me to play formats that iOS doesn’t support but most of my media is loaded into the devices via iTunes.
A bit more background, my PC has an SSD for its system drive – which makes it run like a dream – and all my data is help across two large hard drives. My iTunes library is now on the D drive and was moved there from my old PC along with a second folder that contained all my earlier MP3 music.
My music is all held in WMA format that has been ripped at 192 kbps, 256 kbps and 320 kbps over the years for playing across my Logitech Squeezebox radios and receivers spread throughout the house (shame this range has been nixed by Logitech by the way) and for my earlier phones and Creative media players.
The initial load on my old PC to iTunes took over 48 hours, as iTunes converted all the WMA music to AAC – good job that hard drives are relatively cheap per GB as I now have two of everything!
My outstanding issues are:
1) MP3 tracks, the new Library has all the wrong file addresses, so none of these tracks are available. Before I load again I would like to ‘lose’ the originals
2) Missing album covers . . .
3) Albums split across ‘virtual’ albums because of featured guests on some of the tracks, it may be iTunes but as I buy CDs I would like to listen to the tracks just like I would if I was playing the CD
As I try and fix these issues I’ll blog my progress as so far I’ve not found solutions to all these problems (swapping to an Apple Mac by the way is not an option!)
