Day 13: Thursday 2nd March: leaving Flåm and then cruising fjords
The ship was docked at Flåm overnight, and we both had a really good night sleep. No pitching, no rolling or wind noise! This one the first cruise ship to stay overnight docked at Flåm. The Captain told us that as we had a lot of time to sail to Stavanger; that he planned to slowly cruise down the fjords before reaching the sea.
After breakfast, we noticed that the ship had gently already left her berth in Flåm, and was now going slowly back down the main fjord.
The ship made a slow, turn off the fjord, and entered a small fjord.
At the head of fjord, the ship did a slow spin, and then slowly went back to the main fjord.
Spirit of Adventure slowly passed a frozen waterfall.
Out on the deck with the ORCA naturalists, and we learned that eagles had been soaring above the ship.
The next fjord was much longer than the first one. We were all now sitting at the aft of the ship and enjoying the views as we cruised down this fjord. At the head of the fjord was a village. There I could see a very prominent mobile phone tower by the shore. I used this to book tickets for the Beverley Knight 50th birthday party gig later in the month.
Spirit of Discovery did another slow spin at the end of the field and we headed back out slowly.

Afternoon
Lunch was a rather dispiriting affair with passengers who were sat nearby, complaining about the cruise. They seemed to have no idea just how dangerous the seas had been or how well Saga had looked after everyone with the itinerary changes and by rearranging the excursions.
Even worse was that their idea of Norwegian geography was also lacking as they seemed to believe that when the ship at turned round after Trondheim, that we were actually just off Tromsø rather than being a couple of hundred kilometres away.
Even more surprising was complaining that the changed itinerary had ruined the summer holidays. It seems that they had planned to return to Norway and visit new places by train. The revised itineraries was now taking them to these places despite not being originally planned. This meant that they would not be new when they visited them in the Summer!
After lunch I took my infrared camera out on the deck to see what I could do with it as we passed down the fjord.
After Spirit of Discovery reached the end of the fjord and the pilot left the ship.
We were now off the island of Fedge and the sun was slowly setting.
We went back to the cabin, and we rested while watching another film.
Evening after leaving Flam
At dinner, we shared a table with folks who now lived on a canal boat after they had retired and had downsized. I am not sure that this would work for us at all!
In the Britannia lounge we watched the Three Notes perform.
This was followed by another late night set from the house band. From our balcony we could see another ship passing by.
Next was our last (and again unscheduled) port, Stavanger.
