After the North Sea this second sea day was much more relaxed as we headed for The Great Belt Bridge.
Day 3:Friday 30th June 2023:The Great Belt Bridge
Breakfast was again in the buffet on the upper deck. After breakfast we went to see if any of the outside doors were open. Unfortunately none were open yet due to the weather.
Later when we could get outside we walked 2 miles by walking around the promenade deck, backwards and forwards. Island Princess, unlike her sister ship Coral Princess, has no access to the stern. This is because the ship has had the lounge at the stern converted into extra cabins.
Our lunch was in the restaurant where I enjoyed a ship’s burger for a change! In the afternoon we watched the biopic about Elvis – it was excellent
The Great Belt Bridge
At 5:24 I had my first views of the Great Belt Bridge.
Our evening onboard
In the 6th floor restaurant we shared a table with five other passengers. Some of the folks on our table were not happy with Princess Cruises and made their grievances to all of us on the table. On the positive side we learnt that in Stockholm we would at a dock rather than having to tender.
Michael Bacala
In the theatre we enjoyed the performance of Michael Bacala. He played the violin and was backed by the ship’s orchestra. His humour shone through and couple with his extraordinary violin playing made for a wonderful performance.
The events sheet described him as an “instrumentalist“. This was the first time (and not the last) on this cruise that we would have to read “between the lines“ about exactly what the performers would be doing!
After the theatre, we went to the Wheelhouse Bar to watch the Glam band perform.
Our first port was Ronne which is on the Danish island of Bornholm.
