Day 2 Friday 27th January – Isle de la Cite
Walking back to the 5th I took a detour once on the island and walked around the Notre Dame cathedral. I was trying to take pictures of the repaired roof where I had been three years ago.
Before the bridge in front of the cathedral, there were now very large five or six story blocks of portable offices. The offices for of all the people working on repairing and rebuilding the cathedral.
Over the road I was pleased to see this art by cletabraham was still there.
And I found another Invaderswashere.
Day 2 Friday 27th January – Cafe Le Petit Pont
Over the bridge I walk past the Shakespeare and Company bookshop – the window had this message
For lunch I went into the Café Le Petit Pont for lunch.
Inside the décor was definitely eclectic.
I was sat at a small table with a great view of the street outside. The waiters bustled around and again like my earlier experience were very friendly. My attempt to order a 50 cl of 1664 beer in French I thought had been OK until the waiter told me that “5 litres of beer was indeed a lot – however it would’ve been a great idea!”
The pulled beef burger was delicious and was accompanied by Mexican chips and guacamole.
This old poster was on the side of street furniture.
Rather than retrace my steps, I walked along the quay until I reached Boulevard Saint-Michel. Then as I passing the Luxembourg Gardens I went in.
Not quite the image I wanted of the buildings …
This umbrella decorated the pavement of Rue Victor Cousin – the street with my hotel.
Day 2 Friday 27th January – the 5eme
Back in the hotel, after over 15,000 steps, it was time for a rest and to open my book again until it was time to go for dinner. I had to walk up to the Pantheon and then make my way down the narrow streets to the restaurant but first I made a few detaous.
Walking down Rue Mouffetard the creperies were open.
And the street art.
Day 2 Friday 27th January – Les Descartes
I sat outside the bar enjoying a glass of Laginitas IPA. It may have been cold but I enjoyed watching the busy street with an assortment of people, bicycles and vehicles passing by.
Inside I joined the rest of the workshop party for an evening meal of soup, followed by cod and potatoes. We all swapped stories about we had arrived in Paris and what our plans.
Then it was back to the hotel past the lit Pantheon.
The next day we started the street photography workshop at The Paris American Academy.
