Google have made available a simple way of testing if your website is mobile friendly.
This is important as from April 21st 2015 a mobile friendly ranking factor will be added to Google’s mobile search algorithm. Details of this update were discussed recently by Google’s Gary Illyes recently at the SMX West Conference.

Smartphones (or tablets) are becoming the Internet access point of choice for us all. Here’s an interesting statistic from Lee McCabe, global head of travel for Facebook, who said 79 percent of smartphone users have their phones within arm’s reach for all but three hours of the day. McCabe added that such folks average 2 hours and 42 minutes a day on their iPhones or Samsungs. This was at The 2015 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona and was quoted by AdWeek. The good news is that Google will rank on a page by page basis in real-time so webmasters can work on their sites piecemeal if changes are required.
This blog from Google goes into more detail about what is meant by mobile friendly.
