Leaving Stanley
This was our last view of Stanley.
We were out on Deck 8 forward as Fram left the jetty. As the ship maneuvered we were closer to the two wrecks in the bay…
… and later we passed this old naval gun.
Fram had lots of sea birds around her as we sailed out of Stanley to navigate around East Island to our landings the next day.
After watching all the sea birds circulating around the ship and we were late for the buffet dinner. My luck had run out and this was the first meal on Fram that I didn’t enjoy.
Earlier we had watched the hotel manager bringing boxes on-board at the jetty. We could see from the markings that these were clothes of some sort. Once the shop had opened we went in to check out if there was anything new. I did buy a new design t-shirt but this one celebrating Drake Passage was not available in my size.
After dinner it was time for the briefing for the landings for the next day. These were to be at New Island and Carcass Island. The landing at New Island was a change from the earlier briefing we had had as landing at West Point was now not safe because of the forecast high winds.
At Carcass Island we were promised a special tea at the hotel there with lots of special cakes.
