We all understand that a tweet that has a username as its first characters is a Reply.
A Reply will appear in the recipient’s notification and mention tabs (in the Twitter browser client) and anyone following the sender and the recipient will see the tweet in their Home timeline.
This is a tweet that I received earlier this week. At first glance it is a Reply but look closely, the first character is a “.” not a “@”. This changes who sees the tweet to EVERYONE who follows the sender.
And unless the period is noticed it looks as though the reader is sharing in a conversation.
Hence the title of this blog . . . “Have you received tweets with a sneaky period?”
