Back on Sky Princess
As we walked back to the ship we were even more careful along the broken pavements down to the dock.
At the side of the ship’s dock were containers showing that this was a busy cargo port too.
The ship’s itinerary had been updated on the digital map, next we had one day at sea then we would make the extra visit to Saint John, New Brunswick.
We had a surprise announcement that afternoon from the Captain. He announced that the requirement to wear masks had now been lifted after advice from head office. He bizarrely emphasised that he didn’t like wearing masks and hardly emphasised that wearing them for the rest of the cruise might be a good idea.
At the Captain’s Circle we chatted with the Cruise Relations Director, who explained about her role onboard and about her career at Princess Cruises.
Then we changed and went down to the restaurant. We were placed in the back close to the kitchen. Only a couple of tables were occupied in this area. This was then a very quiet part of the restaurant as compared to the centre of the restaurant.
To get ready for New York we had our last time change overnight.
Day 8 Monday 1st October 2022: Atlantic
Out on the balcony I captured the sunrise with my iPhone before we settled back in enjoyed our first tea for the day.
We went to the midships restaurant for breakfast and again shared a table. In our room we had the reminder that in New York we have to be immigrated into the USA. On the letter we were able to nominate a a time for this process.
On Deck 18 for a walk
Up on Deck 18, we walked around jogging track. It was again very windy as we turned the corners.
At the side of the ship as I did manage to see a couple of gannets.
Sky Princess passed a couple of trawlers, one was away on the horizon.
Afternoon on the Atlantic
For lunch we went to the grill on Lido deck. There I had chicken tacos again – absolutely delicious.
In the afternoon we stayed in our cabin with occasional forays into the wind on our balcony. The Internet was very patchy all day with only email headers again being available and no access to any social media. On a walk we called at the Vines Wine Bar and were lucky to be able get seats near to a window to enjoy the view.
We were late to the Captain’s Circle in the Vista lounge and stayed to watch Ocean Boulevard perform on the stage there
Then we headed before down to the restaurant on Deck 6.
We chatted to our fellow passengers on our table and learnt that we were sharing now a table with a Freeman of the City of London. She had been inducted into one of the Guilds and then later nominated to become a Freeman.
MoBo and Dana Monique in concert
In the theatre we watched a combined show from MoBo and Dana Monique.
For more images see this separate post. It was a full house in the theatre for the show.
Sunny Day Quartet
After the show we went to the Piazza to see the Sunny Day Quartet for the first time.
We had noticed that the ship’s speed had noticeably picked up during the evening. Our next port was Saint John, an extra port call as a replacement port for the cancelled port calls.
