Early evening
After a rest we left the hotel and walked back to the small market and sampled the mulled wine there again.
After getting our card stamped, we passed them to the two girls behind us in the queue who were very pleased to have them!
We walked back around the streets towards the Old Town Square through Tyn Square.
Window shopping …
We passed souvenir shops and in one I bought this fridge magnet of Prague.
Evening at the Red Eagle
For a change, we went to a completely different style of restaurant, the Red Eagle. Unfortunately, unlike the other restaurants, we were very rushed as they seem to want us to get out, so they can serve more people.
Old Town Square
Once in Old Town Square, we had our last walk around the Christmas market. Above us, the moon was shining.
For dessert after dinner, we tried some of the roll cake, from one of the stalls, which was absolutely delicious, and then it was back to our room to finish packing ready for departure the next day.
Day 5: Friday 9th December 2022
This was by far the noisiest night that we had had in our stay here in Prague. Lots of people running up and down the street below us. Their shouting at each other kept us awake. Plus there were lots of noisy cars, accelerating and decelerating on the street below.
In order to give us time to get to the bus stop we went early for breakfast. It was just as every other day and was absolutely delicious. When we checked out we found that we had a further 400 to pay for the local city hotel tax.
Airport
To avoid the issues we had on arrival we walked the longer route to the railway station, up to Wenceslas Square and then up towards the museums, crossed the busy road and then down to the hill to the station. This put us on the correct side of the busy road for the Airport Express.
We had a 30 minute wait for the next coach. By the time it came, the queue behind us was very long. Once on the coach, it took quite a while for everyone to get on and by the time we left the coach was rammed.
At the airport, we went into Terminal One and the departure hall. The British Airways desks were completely empty, just as with other smaller airports, there were no staff and we had to wait a long time nearer the flight time for them to open. Once we were outside, we waited by the A gates until our gate was posted. The security check was at the gate.
Then we had to walk across the tarmac as there was no jetway at this gate.
Heathrow was quite surprisingly a breeze, we went through immigration, our checked bags came promptly, and then we were out in T4, waiting for our taxi.
