This was the first round of a new league competition for digital images in the 2021-2022 season. Bracknell Camera Club had cancelled the print league for the second consecutive year and substituted a digital image league competition.
Dovercourt lighthouse
On the way to Felixstowe in preparation for a workshop, on the following day, we stopped in Dovercourt just before dusk.
Summary of judge’s comments
Not a monochromatic image as there great subtleness in the sky, this stark reminder of years gone by , placement ideal, simplicity good, the fact that we have a few seagulls to break up the breakwater that works quite well tooIf we had had a sunny sky with fluffy white clouds I don’t think it would have had the impact that you have created here
Walking onto the beach
On our weekend away on Hayling Island we visited West Wittering beach at the tail end of storm. As we left the beach this family were braving the wind and driven sand.
Summary of judge’s comments
And a very desolate beach it is, that is probably why there aren’t many people there, if you look at the waves they are being whipped up by the wind , it must have been quite bitter and cold in that particular locationThis is one where I quite enjoy the the fact that the sand mound on the left is there and yet the rest of the beach is horizontally clean apart from the triangular marker on the right hand side,. That is essential , if that marker wasn’t there I think that there maybe too much [space] on the right hand side to the headland where you can see the light beams out of the clouds
All in all a very good illustration of a grey day on the seashore , bitterly cold from the hint of the young lady’s coat as she walks onto the beach
