This training seminar in Birmingham was a one-off for the Bureau as the morning session was Dennis Brown, of UK4Business, giving a seminar on Email Marketing.
I like this venue in Birmingham at etc.venues (Maple House) as Wi-Fi and the projectors have always worked. The downside of the visit was an exceptionally early start as I came up by car with Dennis.
My morning was spent listening to Dennis’ seminar and writing a blogs. I did take a short time-out to read some of the quotations that are framed along the corridors of Maple House. Here’s one of them (above left).
After lunch we started the Facebook training seminar by asking the attendees what they were specifically looking for.
How to improve visibility on Facebook?
How to integrate posts on Facebook?
How to use Facebook to maintain your brand?
How to use Facebook as a marketing tool?
How do we get more fans on our Facebook Page?
How do we start sharing on Facebook?
The question about using personal profiles for a business came up in the open discussions especially as one of the attendees was using one.
The use of blogs to improve Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) on websites was another topic. The website of Nickolls & Perks Limited (discuused through the break) was a fantastic example of how to do it. I especially liked the blog about the Midlands Whisky Festival. My only comment was that perhaps they were missing out by not having the title of the blog post in the URL rather than having a page count.
When we were discussing Timelines for the business pages the topic of ‘Founded’ came up – so I did my party trick of going to the Coca-Cola Facebook page and finding their 1930s of the original modern Santa Claus. The obvious question was would Facebook cope with Nicolls and Perks wine merchants who were founded in 1797? We await to the Facebook page when completed!
