After another day at sea after leaving Valletta and our next port was Dubrovnik in Croatia.
Our cruise through the Suez Canal started in Dubai and took us to Abu Dhabi, Muscat, Salalah, then the transit of the Suez Canal, Valletta, Dubrovnik, Hvar, Venice, Split and finally back to Valletta.
Day 20 Saturday 6th April: Dubrovnik, Croatia
The sky was still overcast as Oceana sailed into Dubrovnik.
We could see another ship following us into Dubrovnik.
On our way to breakfast we handed in our papers about our flights back to the UK. Our breakfast in the Ligurian was a quiet affair as our table companions whispered to each other rather than make conversation with the rest of us on the table.
Into Dubrovnik Old Town
The coach into Dubrovnik was a charged service and we all had our cruise cards scanned as we boarded.
The journey to the Old Town gave us glimpses of the town walls until after a sharp right hand turn, we passed a fire station and the the coach was right next to the walls. At the bottom of the hill the coach stopped and we were next to one of the town gates.
This gate was very busy as it is next to where all the coaches from the cruise ships stop. Following the crowd we went into the Old Town through the gates and then down the ramps.
This visit we decided to just explore the Old Town rather than walk the walls again in the heat. We carried on walking past the steps up the walls along the wide street.
To our left alleys lead up the hill to the upper town walls.
