I have been using Dropbox for over six months now. I use it because of its simplicity and that it is free and ‘just works’ across all my computers and those of my colleagues.
A simple download will set you up with folder (on a PC) that can be accessed just like any other. Sub-folders can be created and shared with other Dropbox users or across your own systems including iPhones.
Help me by joining and installing Dropbox through my referral link. It’s free, totally useful and we will both get 500 MB of bonus space (up to a limit of 16 GB)
So far I have used it :
- to transfer videos for a client from the video company
- to receive nearly 100 MB of photographs from a client to review and post on Facebook
- for sharing files with the other members of the Social Media Bureau who are using Apple Macs, iPads as well as PCs on XP and Win7
- to pickup files on my iPhone when I have been travelling
- to exchange folders of pictures with family members
- to share files between my desktop and my laptop so that I always have the latest version wherever I am working
- to keep a copy of all the files that I must have if all my other backups should fail
