Back to the ship
The ride back to the ship was quicker than the ride out. We wandered through the duty-free area and checked prices in the shops. There seem to have been some serious inflation in the prices. The Levi’s shop only had 501s in every colour and style and had stop stocking the designs that I had bought there a few years ago.
We stopped and had one more beer at the bar before boarding the ship.
Leaving Antigua
There was a lot of activity on one of the piers opposite. Cargo was being ferried to the shore and then loaded onto trucks or into vans.
From our balcony we could across the harbour to abandoned boats and back into the town of St Johns itself.
Once the sail away party started the little girl on the opposite side of the harbour started dancing to the ship’s music. We had seen her dancing on previous visits to Antigua.
Above us the FedEx plane left the island and we watched the frigate birds and pelicans circling as Azura churned up the harbour water.
From our balcony we watch the sailaway. On the hillside we thought that there was a fire in one of the houses. Then as we watched a small truck came into view with a plume of smoke billowing behind it. We guessed that this was a mosquito control measure. Goodness only knows what it must of been like for the homeowners on those streets.
Our cabin steward have not left is any ice so I went up to the Planet Bar in my scruffs to get a bucket ready for our G&Ts.
