Day 6 Saturday 21st May Stavanger
Aurora continued her fast run down to Stavanger overnight and docked opposite the Old Town.
After breakfast we set off on a mission to find as much street art around Stavanger using the map from the NuArt Festival in 2015.
But first I wanted to go to the Geopark via the library for a quick update on their fast Internet connection. The Geopark has all sorts of equipment on display from the oil industry all of which has been decorated by street artists.
Walking further around the quays are these two amazing pieces of street art.
The weather wasn’t great and we decided it was time to go get some shelter and have a coffee. We went to Le Cafe Francais along Ostervag and sat outside under the awning and enjoyed the views as everyone walked past or stopped to ‘ride’ the wooden tortoise! We were close enough to the ship to go back and grab our coats as the rain seemed to getting heavier.
We then set off towards the cathedral and past the Breiavatnet lake.
Walking back to the ship we passed this statue and a street art copy on the building behind.
The full collection of street art from this day exploring around Stavanger is here.
No visit to Stavanger is complete with calling at Dickens on Skagenkaien.
Back on the ship it was time to reclaim Norweigian VAT on our purchases in Bergen and Flam. The lady was very busy and soon ran out of cash.
I went up to deck 15 to try and get some final images. Naturally it was raining but the fire brigade were busy at one of the hotels by the ship’s dock.
Here’s an image of the Valberg Tower from the ship.
and people walking past the ship on Skakenkaien.
The evening’s dinner was the formal ‘black and white’ dinner.
