Day 8 Friday 9th September 2016 Transit to Southampton
As Oriana had left Dublin harbour at 1 am, I had decided to miss this particular sailway. Here’s the sunrise as we sailed South.
I spent the morning watching the sea. We did see all too briefly a rainbow off the stern of the ship.
Off the starboard side as we entered the Celtic Sea I spotted whale spouts. The sea was too rough to catch a glimpse of the whales.
Lunch was in the Peninsular Restaurant and was Thai Green Chicken Curry accompanied by Pedigree Ale.
We had strong winds blowing across the decks all afternoon but no dolphins or anymore whales.
The way entertainment was scheduled in theĀ evening we had to go and see Ukeband in the small theatre before dinner. Arriving late with just 30 minutes before the start of the show we were sat at one side of the dance floor, not great for grabbing images from the show.
Here are more images from the show. Dinner was the P&O mixed grill – another excellent meal.
After dinner I watched gannets tracking alongside the ship in the dark at 22:30.
Day 9 Saturday 10th September 2016 Southampton
We arrived early morning into a wet Southampton, passing Braemar on the way in.
The view later in the morning was no better as a crew member was raising the Red Ensign after we’d docked. You can see the trucks all ready to start unloading supplies for the next cruise and somewhere in all those cars was mine.
