The Theatrical and Creative Dance Lighting Workshop was organised through the RPS. I joined other members in Barking at the Pro Image Studio.
I was lucky on the M25 and in particular on the Dartford Crossing as both were all clear as I drove to Barking. The studio was a little more difficult to find as it is a small cluster of industrial units and hardly had any signage. After 15 minutes or so I rang Jon Gray, the organiser, who gave me directions off River Road into the estate. I was early so I went to the transport cafe on River Street and had a welcome of tea.
Jon had brought with him a car full of lights and backdrops for the shoot. We were upstairs in the studios in a well lit room! The format for the day would be that we would take it in turns to photograph Kate Byrne in each of her costumes – each of us having a couple of minutes. Kate is a professional classic and contemporary dancer and appeared in the BBC programme “Life of a Dancer”.
The 2012 Olympics costume
The first costume that Kate wore was hers from the ceremony at the London Olympics. The first round of images was of her dancing and posing.
For the second set of images, Kate sat and we could get closer to take portrait images.
