Friday 17th December 2021 At Sea
Yet another day on the English Channel as Iona made its way (slowly) back to Southampton. Breakfast was in the Pearl and we again chose to share a table as by now we were feeling much more comfortable as everyone onboard had had a Covid test a day or so ago.
Our walk around the Promenade Deck was a little windy to say the least.
Armed with our earlier experience we went to The Glass House for lunch and this time stuck to all the chicken plates.
The Captain announced that due to expected high winds Iona would be arriving much sooner in Southampton. Later in the afternoon I went to the presentation from Whitewall Galleries about Pop Art.
The 710 Club off the Atrium
Dinner was in the Pearl Restaurant then we went to the Club House until we went into the Atrium to join the queue for the 9.30 pm performance in the 710 Club. This was a new venue for us and promised an intimate experience listening to music.
The club is L-shaped and we were seated at a table for 2 cluse the ‘corner’. AftOnce all the table were filled the doors were closed and we could order drinks.
Without any doubt this was one of our best experiences on Iona this cruise. It was truly intimate with lots of audience interaction and lots of good music. At the end of the set we all had to leave in order for the room to be clear for the next performance.
The Atrium was now being decorated in preparation for the Christmas Cruise by Iona.
Then it was back to our cabin to finish packing and putting our cases outside ready for Southampton.
Friday 17th December 2021 Southampton
Iona did indeed arrive early in Southampton at around 22.45pm.
We all had to wait until the next morning to leave the ship.
