After an early morning sail into New York, we spent the day exploring Midtown, meeting our daughter for lunch before having a carriage ride around Central Park.
Our cruise to Canada and New England took us across the Atlantic to St John’s, Newfoundland; Sydney, Nova Scotia; Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island; two days in New York City; Newport, Rhode Island, Boston, Massachusetts; Rockland, Maine; St John, New Brunswick; Halifax, Nova Scotia; and back across the Atlantic to Southampton.
Day 12 Wednesday 25th September 2019: New York, New York
Here are some more images from the early morning arrival in New York.
After our early morning arrival in New York we went back to our cabin to have an early breakfast.
We had been allocated an early time to go through immigration and we went to the casino at 7.45 to join our group. After passing the checks to allow us to leave the ship, we walked through the terminal building and went into a smaller room and joined a queue there for immigration.
The immigration officers were behind small desks on two sides of the room and we queued around the other two sides of the room. When it was our turn the immigration officer was very cheerful and soon he had us on our way through the terminal building proper.
As we walked along along outside corridor we looked across the water and could see the Disney cruise ship that was still berthed alongside.
We were marshalled as we reached 12th Avenue into a small group to ensure a safe crossing.
Above us to our left was this street art.
We walked along 50th to 6th Avenue and the walked down to 42nd Street.
It was time for a break and we stopped at a familiar sight, Pret a Manger, on 6th.
Then it was on to Times Square.
