After my last year’s visit to the very busy Canary Wharf Winter Lights. This year I went mid-week. Again I went with Jeanette Lendon of Jet Black Squares. The visit was timed to be the evening after my visit to the Royal Academy’s exhibition of “Impressionists on Paper“.
From Green Park I rode the Jubilee Line to Canary Wharf.
I was a early and went for a sandwich to Birleys just after 4 pm.

When I picked up the map of the lights the steward told me that probably everything would be shut down at 7 pm due to the forecasted storm.
I started the evening with my iPhone filter still set to Noir.
The City from Canary Wharf.
In the CrossRail bridge.
The escalators were all working to the roof garden. Last year I fell on the stopped down one with the crush of the crowds. It was a relief to make it safely up and down. I wasn’t enthused by the lights in there this year. Back outside I found this reflection.
This installation had hanging lights and even with a light breeze it an interesting experience standing in there. Easy to see why the lights where cancelled during the previous storms.
Even hoardings were utilised with this one having a laser show.
The gardens behind the Jubilee Line station were not as exciting as last year.
Here are Jeanette’s images on Instagram from the evening.
