Day 5 Wednesday 18th September 2019: Atlantic Ocean and through the Labrador Basin
The sea was again bumpy overnight. I looked out of the window at 6.30 am as another bump occurred and the spray was higher than the lifeboats on Deck 8 outside our window.
This cruise we had learnt from our extended sea days from Dubai through the Suez Canal and we had brought magnets so that we could put cruise info on the wall so it could be quickly found.
We went up to the buffet for a late breakfast and after some cereal I asked for an omelette. At the side of me a lady asked for “Wuppers” I watched as the cook went back into the kitchen and reappeared with a bowl of capers.
It was at that point that the lady lost it I’ll have to stamping her feet (yes really!) and she shouted
KIPPERS, I SAID KIPPERS !!!
The International Dining Room has never been this much fun!
Morning walk and lunch
After breakfast we did a one hour walk around Deck 7.
In the Savoy restaurant the special lunch opening was for it to be serving ‘traditional English’ pub lunches. The fish and chips were excellent but I’m not so sure about the mint flavoured mushy peas.
Busy afternoon
We finished watching a movie and then went our separate ways in the afternoon. Linda went to listen to Linda Gray (of Dallas fame). Even though Linda was over 30 minutes early the theatre was already full and she had to sit on the steps at the back.
I went to look for sea life and now there were sea birds around Sapphire.
I could see a boat out on the horizon./
Then I spotted a pod of dolphins.
The boat on the horizon came nearer and I could see it was a trawler.
Another pod or perhaps the same one?
At 4 pm we sat at the back of Club Fusion and with a little help scored a more respectable 16 on the trivia quiz.
It was movie time again in our cabin after we have been to the 5 o’clock club in Skywalkers. This time it was Christopher Robin which passed away the time until we were ready for dinner.
