Afternoon in Juneau
Our lunch was in the Horizon Buffet as every other restaurant was closed as we were in port. We waited until the rain had eased before we set off back into Juneau. When we reach the shops we turned left and walked along the side of the port on the boardwalk.
This took us past another mural on the side of a large car park.
We passed a statue of a deaf dog that used to greet ships years ago when they came into the harbour. The dog was celebrated as he used to dash to the correct quay when everyone else remained where the ship was supposed to dock.
By the seaplane dock was a converted warehouse with bars, restaurants and shops. As we watched as this seaplane landed and was tied up at the dock.
Looking up past Juneau we could see the hills that surrounded us. Juneau is only accessible by sea and air. This must be unusual for a state capital.
