The sea plane dock and the harbour
One plane was hauled out of the water.
The other plane was simply tied up to the dock.
Walking on we passed a hardware store and came to the docks.
Along the dock were these ‘cabins’ off fishing boats that were decorated with symbols of fish and crabs.
We watched one of the small boats unloading its catch and we went down for a closer look.
The fish were halibut and we are all laid out on the dock.
As we chatted to the fishermen a couple of the fish started to thrash about. The fishermen explained that this particular fish went for $26 a portion but they were planning on saving these to feed themselves. The halibut were much larger than I thought that they would be’
Back at the old cannery
We took the local bus back to Icy Straight Point. Alongside the water there were these boats.
We wandered through a different part of the old cannery building where there were even more shops. This was a fire engine converted from a World War II Jeep.
Further along we went to the next restaurant where we ordered a couple of beers. Below us we watched children swimming off the beach.
Our fellow passengers were all walking past us on their way back to the ship. Unfortunately the promised Wi-Fi at the restaurant didn’t work so we couldn’t login.
The zip wire was in full use and we sat at the bottom in the viewing area watching. There was a close circuit TV on the wall and we watched passengers being strapped strapped into their chairs. Then they were launched down the wire and soon became more than dots before they reached the bottom of the ride above our heads.
