Shopping after the rain
Once the rain had eased we walked up Burrard to go to the supermarket a few blocks up from the hotel. There we picked up some bits and pieces but we were surprised that the supermarket did not sell either wine or beer.
In the next block to the supermarket, the hotel there had a wine cellar and this is where we picked up a couple of bottles to take with us on board The ship.
it’s funny how 8 glasses of water in 1 day seems impossible
but 8 glasses of wine can be done in one meal
Then the rain came back and we sat outside a bar on Burrard.
The Winking Judge had an awning and we sat under it watching the activity on Burrard. There were lots of the passers by and cars turning onto Burrard. I had the advertised local beer, Red Truck, while we waited for the rain to ease.
Evening snack
We had planned to have a salad or a sandwich from Starbucks in the base of the other tower of the hotel. But the cafe had shut at 7 pm so instead we walked down Burrard looking for an alternative. We passed up on a 7-11 and the other bars that we passed until we saw a 24 hour bakery called Breka. This bakery also served drinks and prepared meals such as sandwiches.
We had toasted cheese sandwiches accompanied by the largest beaker of tea that I have ever been served. The place was very busy with people from the nearby hospital as well as others buying bread and treats to take away with them. The Internet in the shop was very fast and I managed to check all my emails while we were there. The sandwiches were good but I did not manage to finish my tea even when accompanied by a doughnut.
Then we made our way back to the hotel to settle down for the night.
