Travelling towards Willow
Around Wasilla we passed more trees +that had not survived the tsunami.
Next we came to Willow at around mile post 185.
Willow is the official start of the Iditarod race. The track is a single track and sidings are spaced out at regular intervals to allow trains to pass.
The train stopped as we came to another train in a siding. As I watched crews moved from one train to the other. It was announced that we now had a new driver, engineer and brake man. The original ones had brought the train down from Fairbanks and now were due a well-deserved rest.
We passed a huskies training kennel and there we could see all the dogs pegged out. They were close enough to interact with each other but not close enough to touch each other.
At the next siding we passed a Southbound train waiting for us to pass.
