For those of you who are not members of Business Network International (BNI), every week members are expected to make a 60 second ‘lift speech’ about their business. The objective being to help other Chapter members better understand your business to enable them to be able to refer you to potential customers.
After a conversation with my colleague from The Social Media Bureau, Martyn Stead, I went back to my school days and all the time I spent studying Julies Caesar by Shakespeare.
Here is an edited version of my 60 seconds relating Social Media to Shakespeare:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ian Hardacre etc (the introduction and company name)
We all know how hard it can be to use social media, for example :
Twitters restricts us to 140 characters; and
An optimum post on Facebook is 80 words . . .
Et Tu Brute?
12 characters —- Perfect for Twitter?
Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears;
I come to bury Caesar, not to praise him.
The evil that men do lives after them;
The good is oft interred with their bones;
32 Words —- Perfect for Facebook?
Shakespeare didn’t do our kind of social media but his words do get the message across . .
That’s why you come to me when you want to get your social media message across
Ian Hardacre etc (what are your business targets this week, your strap line etc)
With thanks again to Martyn.
