The Karnan Tower
We then turned back and walk back along Sodra Storgatan towards the Karnan tower. After passing the back of St Mary’s church we turned up to walk up to the park around the tower.
The city looked good from this viewpoint.
The area around the tower was boarded up and we went up the steps to the tower entrance. The view was great apart from all the repair work.
We could see Sapphire Princess anchored close to the shore. Just in front of us there was the bridge over the slope up to the tower. There was no lift up the tower and we decided to give the stars a miss and walked back down to the bridge. As we neared the bridge we could see the ramparts that protected the tower’s gates under the bridge. At the end of the bridge we found a small lift that charged everyone for its use. Rather than walk back through the park we took the easy option and paid the price to ride the lift. It was a credit card only ride we did slow things down as the connection was not great and my card took several attempts to be accepted.
Once down the tunnel outside the lift was full of people waiting to catch it to go back up.
We walked back along the main street past the impressive Town Hall with its chiming clock.
Back to Sapphire Princess
Further down we then turned left and headed for the marina and some shade.
We were not the only ones heading back and we joined the end of the queue for the tender. As we waited one of the greeters was coming back down the queue handing out flowers and saying thank you for coming to Helsingborg.
We were some of the first passengers on the next available tender and were able to go and sit outside to enjoy the trip back to Sapphire Princess.
Alfredos was not too busy and we went for pizzas plus drinks. In my case this was a Grolsch. The International Cafe served us with deserts that we ate back in Alfredos.
