Walking to the Little Mermaid
We were dropped close to the Opera House and walked around the corner to the top of the Nyvahn Canal. This was just as busy as we remembered from earlier visits. We walked across the small square and visited the loos before setting off down Bredgade to visit the Little Mermaid.
With so many ships in the port we were not alone on the streets and we encountered several walking tours as we made our way past the Marbel Church and then the Alexandr Nevskij Russian Orthodox Church.
We walked through the park past the ponds.
We took a diversion to have a look outside the Citadel before we turned back towards St Alban Church and the fountains.
The fountains were surrounded by tourists off the buses.
As we walked past the fountains we overheard one of the tour guides explaining that the yacht moored opposite the naval ships was the Queen’s Royal Yacht. She explained that it was a tradition that the Queen sails around the Danish kingdom in the Summer visiting everywhere including the Faroes.
As we walked towards the Little Mermaid we could see the three cruise ships further down the bank.
