Pictar turns an iPhone into an easy to hold (and use) camera with all the controls to rival a digital SLR camera.
I first saw this project on Kickstarter but missed the closing date to be a backer. The Kickstarter project closed on the 27th May 2016 and raised $318,628 against a target of $100,000 with 2,952 backers.

I was fortunate that I was still able to back the Pictar project via Indiegogo. This ‘add-on’ project is to try and raise the monies for the project to total over $420,000 and enable the production of an Android version of Pictar.
The Pictar adds external controls to the iPhone that connect seamlessly to a camera app (using sound not Bluetooth).
